As one of the founding members, I am pleased to announce the formation of the Gold4Kids Cancer Foundation of Tulsa. We are the same committee who has provided the Tulsa CureSearch Walk for the past four years, raising over $400,000 for childhood cancer research. As a committee made up of individuals who are dedicated to children with cancer right here in Northeastern Oklahoma, we found we wanted to direct more of the funds raised to local efforts. We will continue to fund national research and additionally will provide funding to improve local clinical services. Some examples of these local projects that we hope to fund are psychological support for our kids with cancer and their families, funding clinical studies, and palliative care. Palliative care is medical care that relieves pain, symptoms and stress caused by serious illnesses, improving patients’ quality of life.
We will continue the ceremonies honoring and in memory of local fighters and survivors this September 12th at Oral Roberts University at our newly named event, The Tulsa Gold Rush Walk. The walk will follow much of the same format as in the past and promises to be a day to remember! We are looking forward to seeing your team this year! We will be in touch shortly with registration information. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you’d like to join us in our new endeavor!
